Rachel Carson Died of Breast Cancer: The Coming of Age Feminist Environmentalist

This essay is Joni Seagers, and it first appeared in signs, which is a great deal. The Essay starts off by mentioning some of Seagers work that is related to this essay and that was also published. According to Seager “Feminist environmental theory and women on-the-ground ecoactivism are challenging and transforming approaches to breathtakingly wide ranges of issues, from animal rights to the environmental economy of illness and well being from exposing and theorizing complex process, such as global ecopiracy to interrogating the distortive privileging of “science” as an arbiter of the state of environment.”(Seager, p.1, 2003). The essay is very informative about ecofeminism, the eveiormentalist and more. This essay also mentions Rachel Carson who has passed away due to breast cancer. I enjoyed reading that Carson was an inspiration to feminist all around the world.

What I have learned about after reading Seagers essay is that it is very informative and she shows her passion about being an activist in global environmental policy. I did not know or pay attention to some of the problems that were happening. After reading it I felt more educated and moved by this essay. She really brought to my attention the health concerns and the sad story about Rachel. I never knew that public awareness and the concerns of human health were only discovered because of series and accidents. I think that is very concerning and we need to be more focused and not let accidents happen. I truly enjoyed reading this essay and knowing how passionate Joni Seager really is about her work. I think it was a great essay and very informative.
